The purpose of the hearing is to present the planned improvements and solicit public comments on the proposed improvements to John King Boulevard in Rockwall County, Texas. Displays will be available for viewing at 6 p.m with the formal hearing starting at 7 p.m. Comments must be received on or before Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, to be a part of the official record.
The proposed project is located along John King Boulevard from the junction of SH 204/John King Boulevard (South Goliad Street) to north of John King Boulevard (Collin County Line), a total length of approximately 7.6 miles. As a result, John King Boulevard would be re-designated as SH 205 and incorporated into the state highway system. No improvements to existing SH 205 within these limits are proposed. The project would consist of the widening of John King Boulevard to an ultimate six-lane , divided urban highway. The proposed project would require approximately 16.3 acres of new right of way and 0.7 acre of permanent easements.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
