Purpose:

The purpose of the hearing is to present the planned improvements and solicit public comments on the proposed roadway improvements to FM 549 from State Highway (SH) 205 to State Highway (SH) 276 in Rockwall County, Texas. Comments must be received on or before Wednesday, May 15, 2019, to be a part of the official record.

Description:

The proposed project would widen approximately 2.08 miles of FM 549 to a four-lane roadway with a 20-foot center turn lane median from SH 205 to SH 276, in Rockwall, within Rockwall County, Texas. In addition to widening, the project will create a new segment of FM 549 extending from south of FM 1139 to SH 205.  Expansion would consist of four, 12- to 14-foot wide lanes with 2-foot wide shoulders.  FM 549 would also have 5-foot wide sidewalks on both sides of the road.  At specific locations, 12-foot wide turn lanes will be added as well.  A bridge would be constructed for the crossing of Long Branch.  The proposed project would require approximately 11.61 acres of additional right of way (ROW) to expand the roadway. No residential or non-residential structures would be displaced.
