Purpose The purpose of the public meeting is to gather public input and provide information about the proposed improvements to FM 543 from CR 125 to Trinity Falls Parkway in Collin County, Texas.
Description

The proposed project would reconstruct and widen FM 543 in stages based on traffic volumes and available funding. Initial construction would consist of four travel lanes (two in each direction) with a grass median and would be widened to the inside once warranted by traffic. The project would ultimately consist of six 12-foot-wide travel lanes (three in each direction) with a raised median ranging from four to 24 feet wide. The proposed project would also realign FM 543 between CR 201 and CR 168 to enhance safety along FM 543. Eight to 10-foot-wide shared use paths would be constructed along both sides of the proposed FM 543 roadway. The proposed right of way (ROW) width would vary between approximately 118 to 293 feet.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace one residence. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling 214-320-6675.

The proposed project may involve construction in wetlands and would involve an action in a floodplain.

Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Dallas District Office, 4777 East US Highway 80, Mesquite, TX 75150-6643. Please call 214-320-6625 to make an appointment. Project materials are also available online.
