| Purpose | TxDOT’s Corpus Christi District is hosting a public meeting to share information and gather public input regarding proposed US 59 upgrades to interstate standards in Live Oak and Bee Counties. |
| Description | This US 59 Project spans approximately 16 miles and is intended to improve local and regional mobility for current and future traffic needs, provide safety improvements, and enhance the state highway system by upgrading the roadway to meet interstate standards as part of the future I-69 corridor. Proposed project improvements from north of the interchange at I-37 to CR 303 (Viggo Road) would include upgrading the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane freeway with mainlanes and frontage roads. From CR 303 to FM 351 in Beeville, improvements would include an additional travel lane in each direction, turn lanes, shoulders and sidewalks. The project is anticipated to be completed in phases. The section from north of I-37 to CR 303 would initially be constructed as a divided highway with two travel lanes in each direction separated by a wide center median. The proposed project would require additional right of way and potential displacements, pending further detailed design considerations. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling 361-808-2374. |
| Accessibility | The virtual public meeting and in-person option will be conducted in English, with Spanish materials available online and in person. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or have difficulty communicating in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. Call 361-808-2544 no later than 4 p.m. CT, Monday, July 20, 2026, to request special accommodations. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs. Please be aware that advance notice is required as some services and accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange. |
