Open House - US 59 in Montgomery and Liberty Counties

Purpose: | TxDOT invites citizens to view exhibits of proposed improvements along approximately four miles of US 59 extending from Fostoria Road in Montgomery County to State Loop 573 in Liberty County. This open house provides citizens with an informal come-and-go opportunity to learn more and talk with staff about the proposed project, ask questions and provide comments about the project proposals. | ||
Description: | The purpose of the proposed improvements is to enhance mobility in the area, as well as upgrade US 59 to meet interstate standards and later serve as I-69. The preliminary study indicates that additional right of way would be needed, although the exact amount is not known at this time. The proposed US 59 as I-69 would be converted from a four-lane divided highway to a six-lane divided, access-controlled freeway, with one-way frontage roads. Additional changes to the project since the last open house meeting conducted on May 13, 2013 include the following:
