Notice of Availability of Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) Available for Public Review - US 271 from FM 16 north to the Upshur County Line

Purpose:

This notice advises the public that a final environmental assessment is available for public review, and TxDOT has issued a finding of no significant impact for the proposed US 271 from FM 16 in Smith County north to the Upshur County line.

Description:

The US 271 proposed improvements are from FM 16 in Smith County north to the Upshur County line.

The project includes expanding from the current two-lane roadway into a four-lane divided highway.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 9, 2019, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and TxDOT.
