The purpose of this online comment opportunity is to receive comments on the project to be delayed from the list of projects previously proposed in the Lufkin District 2021-2024 Rural Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for Sabine County. A face-to-face meeting is not scheduled; however, the public is encouraged to view project information and submit comments about the project by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021.
The US 96 project in Sabine County is now being adjusted prior to its approval and adoption as part of the Lufkin District 2021-2024 Rural TIP in March 2021 due to statewide fiscal constraint. The US 96 project includes converting the existing two-lane roadway to a five-lane roadway with shoulders from one mile north of the Jasper County line to the Jasper County line. The let date (construction bidding) will be changed from January 2023 as shown in the previous Rural TIP to January 2025 and will be removed from the 2021-2024 Rural TIP.
You can also mail your comments to the Lufkin District Office at 1805 North Timberland Drive, Lufkin, TX 75901.
