Public Meeting - FM 2218

Where: Rosenberg Civic Center
3825 Highway 36 South
Rosenberg, TX 77471
When: Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015
5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Purpose: The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on the proposed alternate alignments and improvements to FM 2218 between US 59 and SH 36, in Rosenberg, Fort Bend County, Texas.

Description: The proposed project includes:
  • Reconstruction of existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway with curbs, gutters and a 15-foot-wide median.
  • Raised, grass median with approximately 12-foot-wide, left-turn lanes at intersections.
  • Realignment of the existing FM 2218 intersection with SH 36 to allow for a 90-degree, signaled intersection.
  • Five-foot-wide sidewalks along the east and west sides of FM 2218, and a shared 15-foot-wide lane for bicyclists.
  • One detention pond, located near the proposed FM 2218 intersection with SH 36 and three outfall channels.
  • The proposed project would require approximately 40.6 acres of new right of way. Potential displacements will be further evaluated during the environmental assessment.
The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
