Notice of Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact – FM 1960

Purpose:

The purpose of this notice is to inform the public that a final environmental assessment document (EA) is available for public review, and TxDOT has issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the proposed FM 1960 reconstruction and widening project from BF 1960-A to Atascocita Shores Drive in Harris County, Texas.

Description:

The proposed improvements include the following:

  • Reconstruct and widen the existing FM 1960 roadway from a four-lane roadway to a six-lane divided roadway (three lanes in each direction with the outside lanes serving as shared-use lanes) with curbs and gutters
  • Add a raised median and five-foot wide sidewalks on both sides of FM 1960
  • Construct a grade separation (overpasses) at Atascocita Road, West Lake Houston Parkway, and Farmingham Road

The right of way (ROW) width for this proposed section varies with a maximum width of 246 feet.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
