Notice and Opportunity to Comment on Fondren Road from Airport Blvd to Braeswood Blvd in Harris County, Texas
Purpose:
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in conjunction with the City of Houston, is proposing to widen, reconstruct and improve Fondren Road from Airport Boulevard (Blvd) to Braeswood Blvd in Harris County, Texas. This notice is affording an opportunity to comment as part of the environmental review process for this project. Comments must be received in writing on or before Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020 to be part of the official record.
Description:
TxDOT Houston District is proposing to improve traffic circulation, drainage and safety in the service area. The project includes:
- Widening and reconstructing 2.16 miles of Fondren Road from South of West Airport Blvd to South Braeswood Blvd
- Reconstructing the Fondren Road from West Airport Blvd to Sanford Dr
- Widening the roadway from a four-lane divided roadway to a six-lane boulevard between Sanford Drive to South Brasewood Blvd with curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways and street lighting
- Reconstructing the storm sewer drainage system
Although additional right-of-way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Memorandum of Understanding:
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 9, 2019, and executed by the FHWA and TxDOT.
