| Purpose | TxDOT El Paso District and the City of Socorro are proposing to construct the Arterial 1 (1682 Boulevard) project from Interstate Highway 10 (I-10) to Farm-to-Market Road (FM) 258 (Socorro Road) in El Paso County, Texas. The meeting will consist of a virtual room and will include both audio and visual components. Please note that the presentation will not be available on the website until the time and date listed above. The virtual public meeting will remain active until Monday, Oct. 11, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MST with project documents and information available for viewing. There will be no live or in-person presentations. In addition, you may access the virtual public meeting at the city of Socorro’s web site. All comments must be received or post marked by Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. | Description | The proposed Arterial 1 project would include constructing a four-lane divided roadway with pedestrian and bicycle amenities. The proposed project would be approximately four miles in length. Based on the Border Highway East Planning and Environmental Linkages Study, which was completed in August 2015, TxDOT developed and evaluated multiple alternatives and recommended a conceptual alternative for Arterial 1, which was shown to the public in public meetings held in November 2013, March 2014, and July 2014. Since that time, the project team has expanded upon and analyzed additional conceptual alternatives, which have led to the identification of three Viable Alternatives. These Viable Alternatives and the No Build Alternative are being carried forward for further evaluation. The purpose of the public meeting is to solicit input from the public on the Viable Alternatives and the No Build Alternative. All three Viable Alternatives include proposed new right of way, which would potentially result in impacts to businesses and residential properties, historic districts and historic places/properties, and other environmental impacts. |
