Notice of Availability of Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Final Environmental Assessment for FM 552 from SH 205 to SH 66, Rockwall County

Purpose:

This notice advises the public that a final environmental assessment (EA) is available for public review and TxDOT has issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the proposed FM 552 from SH 205 to SH 66 in Rockwall County.

Description:

TxDOT is proposing to widen and reconstruct FM 552 from SH 205 to SH 66 for a total distance of approximately 5.19 miles, through the cities of Fate, and Rockwall, in Rockwall County.

The proposed project would consist of an urban median separated roadway with four travel lanes (two in each direction). The two inside travel lanes would be 12-feet wide and the outside travel lanes would be 14-feet wide to accommodate shared-use of bicycles and vehicles. The proposed facility would include a raised median from SH 205 to John King Boulevard and from Dismore Lane to SH 66; and a 20-foot flush median between John King Boulevard and Dismore Lane. The project includes 6-foot or 10-foot wide sidewalks along the road within an approximate variable right of way (ROW) of 130 to 197 feet. The proposed design speed is 45 mph. The proposed improvements would require 40.26 acres of additional ROW to accommodate the proposed improvements.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
