Where:

Virtual only - there is no in-person meeting.

When:

Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021
Pre-recorded video will be posted below on this date by 3 p.m.

Purpose:

TxDOT, in collaboration with the Bryan/College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization and the city of Bryan, is holding a virtual public meeting to present proposed improvements along BS 6-R (Texas Avenue) from SH 21 to FM 60 (University Drive) in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas. Proposed improvements include raised medians, a shared use path, and sidewalks to enhance safety and improve mobility along the urban corridor for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. TxDOT seeks your input on the proposed project.

Description:

Project staff will give a pre-recorded project presentation with both audio and visual components. Please note the presentation will not be available on the website until the time and date listed above. The virtual public meeting will remain available online through the comment period deadline of Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021. If you do not have internet access, you may call Haley Partin, Public Involvement Representative, at (979) 217-2062 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to ask questions during the project development process.

The existing Texas Avenue through the corridor consists of two travel lanes in each direction with a center turn lane. The existing Right of Way (ROW) width is generally 100 feet. Currently, pedestrian accommodations are not continuous through the corridor. The proposed improvements along Texas Avenue would maintain two travel lanes in each direction and construct raised medians, as well as bicycle-pedestrian accommodations including sidewalks and shared use paths. At primary intersections, the raised medians would taper to accommodate a dedicated left turn lane. U-turn opportunities would also be provided at selected locations.

Although additional ROW would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for ROW acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling Melissa Sevilla, ROW Specialist, at (979) 778-9607.

Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are available online.

Written comments from the public regarding the proposed project are requested and may be submitted by mail to the Texas Avenue Improvements Project Team, c/o CD&P, P.O. Box 5459, Austin, TX 78763. Written comments may also be submitted by email to TexasAvenue@cdandp.com. All comments must be received on or before Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, to be included in the official meeting documentation.

If you have any general questions or concerns regarding the proposed project or the virtual meeting, please contact contact Haley Partin, Public Involvement Representative, by phone at (979) 217-2062, or by email at TexasAvenue@cdandp.com.
