Notice Affording Opportunity for Public Hearing - SH 71 at Ross Road and Kellam Road Intersections

Purpose:

TxDOT is proposing to construct overpasses on SH 71 at the Ross Road and Kellam Road intersections located in Travis County. The purpose of the project is to alleviate congestion, improve mobility and enhance safety in this corridor.

Description:

The proposed project would include:
  • Constructing overpasses at the two intersections and provide access to Ross and Kellam roads via ramps to new signalized intersections and when complete SH 71 would consist of two free-flowing lanes in each direction, separated by a grassy median
  • Adding new access road that would consist of two lanes in each direction, with additional auxiliary lanes at the new signalized intersections
  • Adding a 10-foot shared path that would provide pedestrian and bicyclists connections between park areas

It is anticipated the project would require approximately 20 acres of additional right of way. No displacements are anticipated.

Any interested citizen may request a public hearing covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed location and design for this project. Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing on or before Monday, August 21, 2017, to:
