Purpose:
TxDOT is conducting a second series of outreach events regarding the Reimagine I-10 Corridor Study progress and updates, evaluating the I-10 corridor from the New Mexico State Line south to FM 3380 (Aguilera International Highway). The purpose of these outreach events is to present projected traffic concerns, possible conceptual solutions, and solicit public input. The meeting will be an open house format so citizens may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions.
Description:
With five U.S. and Mexico ports of entry in the study limits and with the use of I-10 as a major east/west freight corridor, the importance of this corridor is far-reaching. Furthermore, El Paso is experiencing significant growth and development, but because of its unique geographical location El Paso is limited to any alternative routing options, which ultimately puts more demand on to I-10.
The Reimagine I-10 feasibility study has been organized into four segments:
- Northern Gateway: from the New Mexico State Line to Executive Center Blvd
- Downtown: from Executive Center Blvd. to US 54 (Patriot Freeway)
- Airport: from US 54 to Loop 375 (Americas Interchange)
- Southern Gateway: from Loop 375 (Americas Interchange) to FM 3380 (Aguilera International Highway).
The study consists of three layers for improvement: operational, corridor-wide and technological. Within each layer, solutions such as ramp consolidation, additional capacity and truck platooning will be considered. More information may be gained on the project website, Reimagine I-10.
Persons interested in attending the open house with special accommodation needs are encouraged to contact the TxDOT El Paso District Public Information Office at (915) 790-4200 at least two working days prior to the meeting. TxDOT will make all reasonable efforts to accommodate other special needs as requested.
The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and TxDOT.
