Watch for work crews along US 82 in Lamar, Red River Counties

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a project to improve US 82 in Lamar and Red River Counties will begin Feb. 26.

This highway improvement project will extend from State Loop 286 in Paris, Texas, to the Red River-Bowie county line.

The contractor, Highway 19 Construction LLC, was granted 263 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $2.6 million. The contractor anticipates setting project barricades on Feb. 19 and starting work on Feb. 26. The target completion date for this project is February 2025.

The contractor will install safety end treatments on highway culverts and upgrade metal beam guard fence. Much of this work will take place off of the pavement surface, but occasional temporary lane closures will be necessary at times, officials said.

Motorists who travel frequently in these areas are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
