Plan ahead for US 82 frontage road closure

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today advised travelers that the east- and westbound frontage roads of US 82 at its intersection with US 75 will temporarily close starting at 7 a.m. on Feb. 7.

The closure is slated to remain in effect for approximately five weeks. During the closure, east- and westbound US 82 frontage roads between US 75 frontage roads will be reduced to one lane in both directions. This closure is necessary for construction of under-pavement drainage structure and road widening.

While this closure in effect north- and southbound US 75 frontage roads will be shifted onto new pavement and traffic will be routed onto the new US 82 overpasses, officials said.

Officials advised drivers to watch for road crews on the highway, expect some delays and to plan their commutes in advance during this temporary closure. This construction and any temporary lane closures it creates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.

Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
