Plan ahead for closure of US 82 at US 75 in Sherman

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced a temporary closure of US 82 at US 75 in Sherman, Texas, starting at 8 p.m. March 15.

The closure will continue through the weekend, with US 82 reopening by 6 a.m. March 18, officials said.

This closure is necessary for work crews to demolish the existing US 75 north- and southbound frontage road overpasses at US 82.

Westbound US 82 traffic will detour onto the frontage road at Exit 642, and return to US 82 by using the entrance ramp west of US 75. Eastbound US 82 traffic will detour onto the frontage road at Exit 642 and return to US 82 eastbound by using the entrance ramp east of US 75.

Signs and message boards will guide travelers through these detours, officials said.

While this closure is in effect, drivers should watch for road crews on the highway, expect some delays, and plan their commutes in advance. This work and closure are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.

Motorists who travel frequently in these areas are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
