I-30 expansion begins March 11 in Hunt County

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a project to improve and upgrade a portion of Interstate Highway 30 in Hunt County will begin March 11.

The contractor, Williams Brothers Construction Company, was granted 945 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $210 million. The target completion date for this project is August 2027, officials said.

This project will reach from .75 miles west of CR 2509 eastward to 1.6 miles east of FM 1565 and will be constructed in four phases. This work includes intersection improvements at CR 2511, FM 1565 and FM 36; converting frontage roads to one-way operation; and widening existing main lanes.

This work will require night- and daytime closures. Travelers will be alerted to long-term closures with portable message boards along the roadway, officials said.

Motorists who travel frequently in this areas are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
