Pavement, soil sampling begins Nov. 9 in Livingston

LIVINGSTON – A Texas Department of Transportation contractor will begin drilling to retrieve pavement and soil samples at several locations along US 59 and US 190 in the Livingston area on Monday, Nov. 9.

Work will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through Jan. 10, 2027, and is part of the preparation for the upcoming US 59 Livingston Upgrade North.

Pavement cores and soil samples extracted during this project will help guide engineering and design decisions for the planned improvements.

Samples will be taken at main-lane and frontage-road locations just north of the US 59/BU 59 interchange, at the US 59/US 190 interchange, on US 190 between FM 350 North and N. Yaupon Ave., and in the area of US 59 over the US 59 Loop South.

Daily single-lane closures will be necessary, and drivers should plan for possible traffic delays. Closures for this project will not occur during peak holiday travel periods or on Sundays.

Drivers should remember to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones. Stay alert for changing traffic patterns and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
