Main Southbound Diboll Relief Route lanes open Sept. 18

Work continues as project nears completion

DIBOLL, Texas – The main southbound lanes of the Diboll Relief Route will open to drivers this week as the project moves closer to completion.

The process to redirect traffic from the current lanes onto the newly constructed interstate lanes will begin Thursday, Sept. 18, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

Lane closures will be implemented at the northern end of the project near FM 2108 in Burke and at White Oak Creek south of Diboll.

Travelers heading into Diboll along BUS 59, or to Connor Road will be redirected to take the FM 2108 exit. Signs will be in place to direct them to the appropriate route. Airport traffic will continue to use the existing detour signs directing them to the BU 59/Conner Road access.

The relief-route interchanges for FM 2108, Conner Road, Lumberjack Road and FM 1818 will be open to traffic.

Drivers should pay close attention to new signage installed along the road and watch for workers and equipment moving in the area.

The northbound portion of the relief route opened to traffic at the end of May, and the entire project is expected to be completed this winter.
