Farm-to-Market Road 3016 widening, rehab to begin in October

Houston County – A project to widen and rehabilitate approximately 2.54 miles of FM 3016 near Grapeland is expected to begin in October.

Henderson, Texas-based contractor L.S. Equipment Co. will perform the work, which is expected to be completed in summer 2027, weather permitting. Preparation of the right of way is expected to begin on Thursday, Oct. 1.

The work will occur between FM 228 and County Road 1685. It includes rehabilitating and widening the existing 10-feet wide lanes to 11-feet wide and adding 3-feet wide shoulders. Milled edge and center-line rumble strips will also be added. Fixed objects in the right-of-way, such as culverts and mailboxes, will receive safety improvements.

Drivers should slow down when approaching or traveling in the work zone. Stay alert for workers and equipment and follow all traffic control in the area.
