District-wide sealcoat expected to begin in June

Work will occur in all nine district counties

TxDOT's Lufkin District will begin sealcoating numerous roads throughout all nine counties next month as weather permits.

Barricades have been and are being set, with work expected to get underway on Tuesday, June 2. In total, 146.2 miles of pavement on 26 district roads will be treated.

Sealcoating is to roads what sunscreen is to people: a layer of material is applied to extend the life of pavement by protecting it from water intrusion, chemical, UV and other types of damage.
