Portion of US 59 scheduled for resurfacing

A portion of US Highway 59 in Atlanta and Queen City is scheduled for resurfacing soon, according to plans awarded in February by the Texas Department of Transportation.

“This project will include the resurfacing of about two and a half miles of US Highway 59,” said Texarkana Area Engineer Tommy Bruce. “Work will take place from FM 249 to FM 2791, which includes Atlanta and a small portion in Queen City,” Bruce added. Much of this work will take place at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to minimize the impact to the traveling public.

RK Hall, LLC of Paris was awarded the contract with a bid of $9,573,840.

Weather permitting, work should begin in May and take about six months to complete.
