Portion of State Highway 49 scheduled for resurfacing

Work to resurface a portion of SH 49 in Mount Pleasant is scheduled to begin this spring, according to plans awarded in January by the Texas Department of Transportation.

“The project includes 1.9 miles of four-lane highway, between US 271 and BU 271,” said Mount Pleasant Area Engineer Wendy Starkes. “During construction, motorists will see daily lane closures and possibly some work at night,” Starkes added.

Longview Bridge and Road, LTD. was awarded the contract with a bid of $2,881,429.

Work is expected to begin in April 2024 and should take about three months to complete, weather permitting.
