Project overview
The project will add one high-occupancy vehicle managed lane in each direction along I-35 between SH 45 North and US 290 East. In addition, the project will reconstruct bridges, relocate and reconstruct entrance and exit ramps, add a diverging diamond interchange (DDI) at Wells Branch Parkway, add pedestrian and bicycle paths and make additional safety and mobility improvements within the project limits.
Major impacts/activity
- Beginning Sunday, May 11 at 8 p.m., the northbound I-35 mainlanes between US 183 and Rundberg Lane will be reduced to one lane nightly, and the northbound US 183 to northbound I-35 flyover will be closed for inlet repair work. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends, weather permitting.

Milestones
- Completed: Reconstruct northbound frontage road bridge over Walnut Creek
- Reconstruct Braker Lane bridge
- Construct diverging diamond interchange (DDI) at Wells Branch Parkway
Bicycle and pedestrian improvements
- More than 18 miles of new shared-use paths in addition to the 5+ miles that exist or are under construction
- Additional 5 miles of intersection bypass lanes for safer and faster access to and from the mainlanes and to benefit local and regional mobility

- Construction cost: $606 million funded by CAMPO and TxDOT
