Major upcoming traffic shifts

Prepare for new traffic patterns across the project corridor.

Oak Hill Plaza/Center of the Hills Crossing Closure

  • As early as Monday, Jan. 19, cross-street access between Oak Hill Plaza and Center of the Hills shopping centers at SH 71 will temporarily close, allowing crews to complete the bypass bridges over the intersection.
  • The intersections will become right in/right out only. Traffic signals will facilitate through traffic and right-turn movements.
  • Westbound SH 71 traffic can make a non-signalized U-turn at Scenic Brook Drive to reach eastbound SH 71 and Oak Hill Plaza. Eastbound SH 71 traffic can make a non-signalized U-turn near Tesla to reach westbound SH 71 and Center of the Hills.
  • All major activity is subject to change and weather permitting.

For access to Center of the Hills, eastbound SH 71 drivers will make a U-turn by Tesla, then turn right into the parking lot. For access to Oak Hill Plaza, westbound SH 71 drivers will make a U-turn near Scenic Brook Drive and then turn right into the parking lot. Traffic signals will remain in place for through traffic and those exiting the shopping centers. New configuration at 'Y' Interchange and William Cannon bypass bridge closed

  • As early as October 2025, the US 290/SH 71 Interchange will open to its new Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) configuration. (Check out the animation video below).
  • New bridges at the intersection will provide access for left-turn and U-turn movements for eastbound US 290, and continued access from eastbound SH 71 to eastbound US 290. The eastern bridge will also allow the drivers to make a west-to-east U-turn at the US 290/SH71 Interchange.
  • This configuration is expected to be in place until project completion in 2026.

Eastbound US 290 to bypass Scenic Brook Drive

  • As early as Wednesday, Oct. 15, eastbound US 290 drivers will have the option to bypass Scenic Brook Drive by entering the US 290 mainlanes.
  • For access to Scenic Brook Drive or the Scenic Brook bridge, drivers will stay right and exit to the eastbound US 290 frontage road.
  • All major activity is subject to change and weather permitting.

Westbound US 290 bypass for Scenic Brook Drive

  • Through fall 2025, westbound US 290 drivers will bypass Scenic Brook Drive using new bypass lanes now open under the Scenic Brook Drive bridge.
  • Local traffic accessing Scenic Brook Drive or the Scenic Brook bridge will stay on the westbound US 290 frontage road.
  • All major activity is subject to change and weather permitting.

Eastbound SH 71 shifts to elevated lanes

  • In June, eastbound SH 71 shifted to the new eastbound SH 71 frontage road lanes. Westbound SH 71 traffic will stay on the existing SH 71 lanes.
  • All business access along SH 71 are a right-in / right-out configuration, except at the Oak Hill Plaza / Center of the Hills signal and Scenic Brook Drive, where left turns will be maintained.
  • Eastbound SH 71 drivers will use a temporary non-signalized U-turn near Oak Hill Plaza / Center of the Hills to access westbound SH 71.
  • Westbound SH 71 drivers will make a non-signalized U-turn before the Silvermine Drive / Fletcher Lane intersection to access eastbound SH 71.

Convict Hill Road cross-street closure at US 290

  • In early July, cross-street access closed at Convict Hill Road, which is now a right-in / right-out only to the new eastbound US 290 frontage road.
  • Westbound US 290 drivers accessing Convict Hill Road will U-turn at RM 1826. Convict Hill drivers accessing westbound US 290 will U-turn at William Cannon Drive.
