Segment overview

Install two drainage tunnels and a pump station to improve stormwater management along the corridor. Access shafts will also be added along I-35 to ensure proper maintenance and operational access to the new infrastructure.

Major impacts/activity

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road between 11th Street and 12th Street right lane closed through early 2026.
  • The southbound I-35 frontage road at River Street will be closed through mid-2028.

Trail impacts/activity

  • The eastside Levander Loop pedestrian trail from just north of the Montopolis Bridge to just south of East Cesar Chavez Street will be closed through 2028, weather permitting.

Schedule

  • Construction start: mid-2025
  • Anticipated construction completion: 2029, weather permitting
