About
As part of the Texas Clear Lanes initiative focused to improve mobility throughout the state, the I-820 East Loop Project was selected for funding, and TxDOT began construction in July of 2018. This work is part of the $3.8 billion congestion relief initiative started by Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Legislature to reduce gridlock in some of the state’s most congested areas.
Project improvements will reconstruct the existing roadway and access ramps, builds additional lanes in each direction, replaces the Trinity River Bridges, and creates new direct connectors to and from SH 121.
During construction on this project, the I-820 Mobility Task Force seeks to
- facilitate technical meetings during construction,
- keep the public informed about the project’s progress,
- promote safety and mobility during construction, and
- act as the public’s advocate on the project.
