Project overview
The purpose of the I-10 White Oak Bayou project is to reduce the risk of flooding of the I-10 mainlanes between Heights Blvd and I-45 and reduce occasions when the roadway would be impassable due to major rainfall events. The project will raise the I-10 mainlanes out of the floodplain and also reconstruct the Houston Avenue bridge.
Once completed, the Houston Avenue Bridge will sit below the I-10 mainlanes removing any future concerns of strikes on the Houston Avenue Bridge. The project will not only include the reconstruction of the existing I-10 mainlanes above the 100-year flood level.
To improve safety and mobility.
This project will raise the elevation of the existing I-10 mainlanes above the floodplains of White Oak Bayou.
To reduce the risk of flooding of the I-10 mainlanes between Heights Blvd and I-45.
