Construction updates

Construction on the Big 6 project will kick off on December 1, 2025. Check back here for more construction updates as the project progresses.

Current activity

Drivers right now can expect to see crews prepping the right of way along the corridor, utility relocations, and construction of a material plant near Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Right of way prep includes removal of tress that were planted as part of previous construction to make room for the expansion. Revegitation efforts are planned and will be implemented as construction nears completion. The proposed plans include tree planting, wildflower seeding, and native grass planting at intersections along the corridor.

Looking ahead

Once construction begins, here's what can be expected in the next six months:

• Two mainlains in each direction will be maintained throughout construction
• Majority of the work will be on the mainlanes
• Construction of temporary pavement and retaining walls
