Take it low, take it slow

In the world of lowriding, every cruise through the neighborhood tells a story of family, culture, and community. For sisters Mercedes and Mariah Mata, that story runs deep. As proud members and leaders of the Dallas Lowriders, they’re not just preserving a legacy — they’re redefining it for the next generation.
Even in a glittery pink 1984 Chevy Monte Carlo, the Mata sisters know that lowriding is about more than just style — it’s about community. They look after their neighbors by hosting toy drives and picnics, and by celebrating their Chicano culture. Whether they’re cruising through Oak Cliff or heading to the next meet-up, they ride with respect for the car, their community, the road, and the people around them.

Pride in your ride, pride in your roots
Rolling with pride means more than just how you drive — it’s about honoring your ride, your roots, and the culture that shaped you. For the Mata sisters, every cruise is a reflection of the time, care, and love poured into every detail of their cars, and respect for those around them. In Texas, rolling with pride means carrying yourself with purpose, staying in control, and driving safely.
People think lowriding is all about flash, but the real ones know it’s about respect.”

Lowriding lives by the motto “low and slow.” When you drive safely and look out for one another on the road, you’re building a legacy that can be passed on to future generations.
It’s not just about the cars, it’s about family. Our dad taught us when we drive careful, we drive proud — like we have a whole legacy riding with us.”
“Low and slow” isn’t just about speed. Just like the precision it takes to drop a car into three-wheel motion, it takes focus and discipline to drive safely, protect your ride, make thoughtful decisions, and share the road. When we slow down and ride with control, we make sure our culture and the people around us keep cruising for generations to come.
