1.3.2 Types of Schematics
The types of schematics that are discussed in detail in the PDP include:
- Geometric Schematic– a geometric schematic that goes through a formal design, review and approval process is required for projects that are a:
- New location project;
- Added capacity project (including frontage roads);
- Reconstruction with added ROW;
- Interstate ramp relocation project;
- Environmental Impact Statement project; or
- Other projects that would require an IAJR.
For high profile and politically sensitive projects, a geometric schematic is also recommended but not required.Refer to for more information about the Geometric Schematic - Geometric Layout– for projects that do not require the formal geometric schematic design, review, and approval process. This is a more simplified layout to convey project information and is used to gain feedback from project stakeholders. Refer to for more information.
