US 77 Odem Project

The Texas Department of Transportation's Corpus Christi District is proposing to upgrade US 77 to interstate standards from I-37 to FM 1945 in San Patricio County.

Proposed improvements

TxDOT's Corpus Christi District is moving forward with the project development process for the US Highway (US) 77 improvements in the Odem area. The US 77 proposed improvement project will follow the recommendations of the Planning Study Three route options are being advanced. Each of the options would require new roadway and an interchange at I-37.

Preliminary design and environmental studies are the next steps in the process. The purpose of these activities is to develop and evaluate roadway alignment options, take into consideration public input, and determine the potential impacts the proposed project will have on the environment and community. The goal of the project is to improve safety for local and through traffic; improve mobility, access and connectivity; and support economic opportunity. Additionally, the development of the project would meet the future goal of designating this section of US 77 as part of the Interstate 69 (I-69) highway system. The project development process is detailed in the newsletter below.

Project updates and public involvement

The purpose of public involvement is to share project information, present project updates, and gather public input. TxDOT is committed to working closely with the public on this project. Public input will be considered as TxDOT moves forward in developing a plan to improve safety and mobility of this corridor.
