US 281 and SH 46
Work consists of widening the non-freeway section of SH 46 in the Bulverde/Spring Branch area from just west of Farhills Drive to just east of Bentwood Drive. The project expands the roadway from an existing two-lane, two-way configuration to a six-lane roadway with raised medians and a center left-turn lane to improve capacity and traffic flow.
Current construction activities
The contractor is currently performing nighttime paving operations for the final surface of SH 46. Crews are also placing topsoil and hydro mulch throughout the project limits. Traffic is anticipated to be shifted into its final configuration in June. Additional work remains, including installation of traffic signals and completion of roadside elements.
Estimated Completion: Winter 2026
