Purpose:

The purpose of the open house is to gather public input on the proposed improvements to the US 79 Project, from south of I-35 to east of FM 1460 (A.W. Grimes) in the city of Round Rock, Williamson County, Texas. The open house will allow attendees the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed project. The open house will allow attendees the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed project.  Attendees may come and go at their convenience.

Description:

The purpose of the project is to improve safety and mobility and accommodate future population growth and land use development in the area. The proposed project includes the following improvements:

  • Widening the existing US 79 roadway to add a third travel lane in each direction
  • Installing a raised median for safety
  • Improving intersections to include potential overpasses at US 79/Mays and US 79/FM 1460 and altering the US 79/I-35 intersection
  • Modifying driveways and access points to improve safety and traffic flow
  • Installing shared-use paths on both sides of US 79 to improve pedestrian and bicycle accommodations

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
