Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)

About the STIP

The Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is TxDOT’s federally required, fiscally constrained, four year program of multimodal transportation projects that are ready for construction or implementation. Each project includes its anticipated fiscal year of activity to support planning, scheduling, and the federal letting process.

The STIP consolidates projects from metropolitan and rural areas across Texas through a coordinated statewide planning process. It also incorporates projects and programs provided by partner agencies.

TxDOT adopts a new STIP every two years, known as the Initial STIP. Because project costs, schedules, scopes, and other factors may change, the STIP is updated regularly through STIP Revisions. These revisions typically occur quarterly in February, May, August, and November.
