Color proportion

The consistent use of color is important when applying color. TxDOT materials should primarily be blue and white with red accents. Use this example as a simple guide for the amount of blue, white, and red that should be visible when adding color. Additional secondary colors may be used as accents in addition to the primary color palette. See secondary color palette below for more information.

Secondary color palette

Blue is TxDOT’s primary color and an integral part of our brand. A secondary color palette was developed to support the wide variety of communication and brand needs. The secondary color palette was carefully selected the primary color palette.

Best practices:

  • Use secondary colors as accents to the primary palette, not a dominant color.
  • Use one secondary color, if needed, in addition to the primary color palette.
  • For data visualizations or GIS maps, use color palettes available on the TxDOT's Tableau Community of Practice internal site.
