Notice Affording Opportunity for Public Hearing – SH 71 from FM 1300 to FM 2765
Purpose:
TxDOT is the lead agency proposing to construct a continuous center left turn lane along SH 71 from FM 1300 to FM 2765 in El Campo, Wharton County, Texas.
Description:
The proposed project improvements include:
- Construction of a 14-foot wide continuous center left turn lane along SH 71 from FM 1300 to FM 2765
- Construction of an additional travel lane in each direction
- Addition of curb and gutter system with underground storm sewer drainage system
The purpose of the proposed project is to widen the existing roadway to accommodate a two-way left turn lane and add an additional through lane in each direction.
The existing right-of-way (ROW) width varies from 100 to 120 feet. The proposed project would not require additional ROW. The proposed project would not require any residential or non-residential displacements.
Any interested citizen may request a public hearing covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed location and design for this project. Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing on or before November 10, 2017, to:

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
