Purpose:
The Texas Department of Transportation Yoakum District will hold a public meeting in an open house format regarding the proposed improvements to US 59, in Victoria County, TX.
Description:
The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on the proposed improvements. The proposed project’s limits are from SL 463 in Victoria to FM 1686 in Telferner. The proposed work includes adding one-way frontage roads, an overpass and additional ramps, and upgrading this section of US 59 to meet interstate standards. Improvements will improve safety and enhance mobility.
The public is invited to attend the meeting to view project maps, visit with team members, ask questions and share comments. As the meeting is an open house format, no formal presentation will be given. All attendees can come at their convenience. Comments may be submitted using any of the following methods:
- Written comment card submitted at the meeting
- Written comments submitted by mail, email or fax after the meeting

The meeting will be conducted in English. People interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the Yoakum District Public Information Officer at (361) 293-4436. Requests should be made by July 1, 2016. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs. The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
