Notice of Availability - FM 457 North Finding of No Significant Impact
|This notice is to advise the public that TxDOT has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed construction of a new bridge over the Gulf Intracoastal Water Way on FM 457 in Sargent, Matagorda County, Texas.
|The proposed project would replace the existing, at-grade, pontoon-barge swing span and approach spans with a new fixed-span, high-clearance structure with spiral approaches. The replacement bridge and approaches would maintain the current configuration of one lane in each direction. The new bridge would have two 12-foot travel lanes separated by a 4-foot center median and 10-foot outside shoulders. The new bridge would be constructed on the east side of the existing structure. The project would require approximately 4.2 acres of new right of way.
Copies of the FONSI, the Public Hearing Summary, and the approved Environmental Assessment (EA) for this project are available for public inspection and reproduction at the TxDOT Yoakum District Office, located at 403 Huck St. in Yoakum, Texas 77995 as well as at the TxDOT Wharton Area Office located at 1512 FM 102, Wharton, Texas 77488.
The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
