Public Hearing - Falls County Road 386 (Westphalia) Bridge Replacement

| Purpose: | In cooperation with Falls County, TxDOT will conduct a public hearing to discuss replacing the wooden bridge over North Elm Creek on Falls County Road (CR) 386 near the community of Westphalia in Falls County. The purpose of this hearing is to present the proposed design of a new bridge. The existing bridge is a contributing element to the Westphalia Historic District, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Texas Parks and Wildlife code, chapter 26, requires a public hearing when a project requires the use or taking of a historic site. |

| Description: | The existing CR 386 Bridge at North Elm Creek does not meet current bridge design standards and is in need of replacement. The proposed project would replace the existing 20-foot-wide bridge and approaches within the existing 60-foot right of way. The purpose of this project is to provide a safe and efficient crossing over North Elm Creek in Falls County. The proposed bridge structure would be 50 feet in length and consist of two 10-foot travel lanes, two two-foot shoulders and a one foot railing within the existing right of way. The project will not require additional right-of-way. No displacements or relocations are required to complete the project. The project area is not mapped by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). All interested citizens are invited to attend and express their comments. The public will have an opportunity to make verbal comments during the hearing. Written comments may also be submitted at the hearing or up to 10 days after the hearing.
