Open House - Proposed Improvements to SH 16 at Loop 1604

Purpose:

The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project to the public and receive input on the proposed improvements to the State Highway 16 at the Loop 1604 intersection in Bexar County, Texas.

Description:

The TxDOT San Antonio District will hold a public meeting in an open house format regarding the proposed improvements to the SH 16 at the Loop 1604 intersection in Bexar County, Texas. The project limits on SH 16 will extend approximately 1,200 feet north and 1,200 south of Loop 1604. On Loop 1604 the project limits will extend approximately 1,400 feet east of SH 16 and 900 feet west of SH 16.

The proposed improvements include:

• Realign left- and right-turn lanes and reconfigure the intersection to operate more efficiently
• Include sidewalks and shared-use lanes in order to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists and allow access to the commercial centers in the surrounding area
• Improve turning movements between SH 16 and Loop 1604, decrease traffic congestion and improve safety

The proposed improvements would not require any additional right-of-way. The proposed project would not result in any displacements.

All interested citizens are invited to attend this public meeting. Written comments from the public regarding this project are requested and may be presented for a period of 15 calendar days following the meeting. Written comments may be submitted either in person at the public meeting or by mail to:

Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to call (210) 615-5811, at least two days prior to the meeting. Because the public meeting will be conducted in English, any requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should also be made at least two days prior to the public meeting. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.

Maps showing the proposed project’s location and geometric design will be available for viewing at the public meeting. This information will also be available for public review upon request Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., excluding state holidays, at the TxDOT San Antonio District Office located at 4615 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78229.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
