Public Hearing - Loop 1604

Where: Zion Lutheran Church
Family Life Center
9944 Leslie Road
San Antonio, TX 78254
When: Tuesday, May 7, 2013
Open House: 6:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Public Hearing: 7 p.m.

Purpose: The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) invites citizens to view exhibits of the proposed improvements to Loop 1604 from FM 471 (Culebra Road) to SH 16 (Bandera Road).  Members of the project development team will be available to answer questions during the open house.  During the public hearing, a presentation will be given on the proposed improvements, and citizens will be able to make comments for the public hearing transcript.
Description: As population and traffic continues to increase along Loop 1604, the Loop 1604 improvement project would improve mobility and enhance safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians on this section of Loop 1604. Currently, Loop 1604 from SH 16 to FM 471 is a four-lane divided roadway with two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 4-foot inside shoulders, and 10-foot outside shoulders. This section of Loop 1604 does not have frontage roads and requires motorist to stop at traffic signals, rather than offering a continuous freeway-type road. TxDOT proposes improving Loop 1604 in this area to a four-lane freeway section (two lanes in each direction) with continuous frontage roads. The proposed project would also include sidewalks and a 15-foot-wide outside lane to accommodate bicycles. More information and schematics can be found on the Loop 1604 Northwest study page.
