Notice Affording an Opportunity for Public Hearing - State Loop 337

Purpose:

TxDOT is proposing to improve State Loop 337 (Loop 337) from I-35 to Hillcrest Drive in Comal County, Texas. The total distance of the project is approximately 6.7 miles. This notice advises the public that TxDOT is affording an opportunity for a public hearing on the proposed project.

Description:

The proposed project would convert the existing Loop 337 to a 4-lane divided roadway between I-35 and Hillcrest Drive in New Braunfels, Comal County, Texas. The project would construct new lanes for southbound traffic and convert the existing lanes to carry northbound traffic. The existing and proposed new lanes would be separated by a wide median. From Hillcrest Drive to State Highway 46 and from the Loop 337 access road approximately ¼ mile north of Landa Street to W. San Antonio Street, there would be a five-foot wide sidewalk on one side of the road.

The purpose of the project is to facilitate traffic flow on Loop 337 in order to accommodate the projected increase in traffic and population growth while increasing safety for the traveling public.

No additional right of way would be required, and no residential or non-residential structures would be displaced.

Any interested citizen may request a public hearing covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed location and design for this project. Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing on or before March 7, 2017 to the TxDOT San Antonio District Office.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
