Purpose: The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in partnership with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), is gathering feedback for the proposed Dallas to Fort Worth Core Express Rail Service. A public scoping meeting will provide an overview of the proposed project from Dallas to Fort Worth. Station location options will be displayed, but specific locations have yet to be determined.

Description: TxDOT is leading the effort to develop the environmental study and is working cooperatively with FRA, private interests and other stakeholders to identify funding and procurement strategies to build and operate a proposed passenger rail connecting the Dallas and Fort Worth areas.

The planning effort will include an objective evaluation of passenger rail as a means of providing inter-city connectivity between Dallas and Fort Worth. This effort will focus on long-term needs for intercity transportation and will complement other planning efforts addressing regional and local transportation issues.

This plan will identify opportunities to invest in passenger rail between Dallas and Fort Worth. Work will include development of a reasonable program of alternatives, an evaluation of the environmental impacts, and a recommended alignment. The end goal is to balance the needs of users of the corridor in a manner that ensures safe, efficient travel.
