Purpose:
TxDOT, in conjunction with the City of Alton, is proposing improvements to FM 676 (Mile 5 N Rd.), from SH 364 (La Homa Rd.) to SH 107 in Hidalgo County, Texas. The hearing will begin with an open house from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During this time, the public will be able to review available project information and exhibits, discuss the project with project staff, and ask questions. The formal presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by a public comment period.
Description:
The proposed project would include:
- Widening of FM 676 from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane curb and gotter roadway with a two-way left turn lane
- Adding sidewalks
- Adding drainage structures
- Adding right turn bays along FM 676 and left turn lanes at major intersections
Approximately 1.9 acres of new ROW would be acquired at major intersections to improve traffic and pedestrian movements. Although additional ROW is required, no residential or non-residential structures would be displaced.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
Comments must be received on or before Dec. 15, 2017 to be a part of the official hearing record.
