When:

Open House: 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Presentation: 6 p.m.

Purpose:

TxDOT, in conjunction with the Brownsville Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), is proposing improvements to I-69E (US 77 / 83), from 0.35 mile north of Old Alice/Stillman Rd to 0.40 mile south of Merryman Rd. The total distance of the project is approximately 0.1 mile.

Description:

The proposed project would include:

  • Improving the overpasses for the northbound and soutbound frontage roads at the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) intersection
  • Improving a separate overpass used as a shared use path for pedestrians and bicycles is proposed adjacent to the northbound frontage road. The pedestrian and bicycle path would facilitate a safer route across the existing UPRR tracks

The purpose of the project is to improve frontage road operations (continuous frontage roads over the RR tracks) and enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

The majority of the proposed project would be done within the existing right of way (ROW).  Approximately 1.4 acres of new ROW would be needed to improve pedestrian and cyclist movements. Although additional right of way is required, no residential or non-residential structures would be displaced.

Location maps, geometric design, and other information regarding the project are available to the public Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at:

TxDOT Pharr District Office
