Public Meeting - Loy Lake Bridge Improvement Project

Where: Sherman Municipal Ballroom
405 N. Rusk St.
Sherman, TX 75090
When: Thursday, April 3, 2014
4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Purpose: The purpose of the open house is to inform the public about the Loy Lake Bridge Improvement Project, located at US 75 and Loy Lake Road in Sherman. TxDOT and contractor staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on the construction schedule, including upcoming detours and closures. Construction is expected to last about 12 months.

Description: Improvements are needed because the bridge has met capacity; traffic often stalls across the bridge onto Loy Lake Road. The following improvements will relieve congestion and improve safety:

  • Widening the existing roadway from two lanes to four through lanes with left-turn lanes
  • Aesthetic improvements to include colored/textured concrete in the island medians and painting of the bridge
  • The City of Sherman will continue the construction south of the intersection to Sarah Swamy Drive, which will become a four-lane divided section of roadway. Once construction is complete, drivers can expect a right turn lane from Sarah Swamy Drive onto Loy Lake Road. A traffic light is also being installed at the intersection.
