Public Meeting - Lubbock Outer Route from US 87 to US 62/82

| Purpose: | The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project and route locations for the Lubbock Outer Route, from US 87 to US 62/82, to the public and to receive comments. | ||
| Description: | The proposed project would upgrade and widen FM 1585 by converting the existing two 12-foot lanes and two 10-foot shoulders roadway to a four lane divided freeway with frontage roads and ramps. Interchanges will be developed at cross streets. Additionally, interchanges and direct connectors will be constructed at US 87 and US 62/82. The proposed improvements would require additional right-of-way. Commercial and residential displacements will occur and will be further evaluated during the environmental review process.
The Lubbock Outer Route is in its second phase of development. More information about the feasibility and route studies is located on the project page. Maps showing the proposed project’s routes and geometric design will be available for viewing at the public meeting. This information will also be available for public inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Lubbock District Office located at 135 Slaton Road, Lubbock Texas 79404-5201. All interested residents are invited to attend this public meeting to express their views and discuss the project with TxDOT representatives. Written comments from the public regarding this project are requested and may be presented for a period of 10 calendar days following the meeting. Written comments may be emailed, faxed to (806) 748-4380, or mailed to the Director of Transportation, Planning and Development at 135 Slaton Road, Lubbock, TX 79404-5201. All comments must be submitted or postmarked by May, 23, 2016. The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the TxDOT Lubbock District Public Information Office at (806) 748-4472. Requests should be made at least two days prior to the public meeting. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT. |
